Reincarnated as an online radio station in 2002, KSPU is a community where students can collaborate, explore, and share their passion for music. Our site features hour-long radio shows hosted by students in the KSPU station in Weter Hall as well as a student-run music blog. We also host a multitude of on and off-campus events featuring both SPU and local musicians, including the annual KSPU Launch Party, Covers Concert, and Spring Concert in the fall, winter, and spring quarter, respectively.
All of these aspects together combine to make the community that is KSPU. A community of expression that is proud to represent SPU.
Is KSPU a club?
No, KSPU is SPU’s student-run radio station which is one of four student media organizations on campus (the other three being Lingua, Cascade & the Falcon).
If KSPU isn't a club how do you get involved?
SPU students can become radio DJs, write for our music blog, create a podcast or attend our events throughout the year!
Does KSPU meet weekly?
No, but you can DJ weekly. We may have DJ/Blogger-only events later in the year but those won’t necessarily be weekly. We will also have events (study nights, listening parties, holiday parties) open to all students throughout the year. Keep an eye on our Instagram @kspu for the most up-to-date event information.
What do you do as a DJ?
DJs host weekly or biweekly shows on our stream! You do not need any DJ experience, we can show you the ropes. All sets need to have a playlist, name and some kind of theme is preferred but not required. KSPU will have your set information on our DJ schedule online so people know when to tune in (we may also promote your set on our Instagram). You can contact our broadcast manager Evie for more information ([email protected]).
What do you do as a blogger?
Bloggers write articles about music for our music blog. They do not have to be weekly or monthly or anything (you can just write one & be done or you can write them once a week) but they do need to be written in a semi timely manner. Our publicist will create a graphic for your article and we will add it to our blog and advertise it on our social media. As the year goes on, if you write for the blog you’ll get entered into raffles for concert tickets and merch. Contact our Station Manager Sage for more information ([email protected]).
What do you do as a podcaster?
Want to start a podcast? Great! KSPU can help you get started. Right now we can upload your podcast to our blog and later in the year we will open up the station to record or live stream podcasts. Contact our Broadcast Manager Evie for more information ([email protected]).
What volunteer opportunities are there?
To volunteer with KSPU you must DJ or write for us at some point. Contact our station manager Sage for more information ([email protected]).
